3 Strikes And You're OUT!

Brennen Broke It!Strike 1 --Friday Sept. 5th, 08: I got a call from the school nurse saying that Brennen had jumped out of a swing and landed funny on his arm and his wrist was swollen and hurting. She had already sent him back to class so I asked her to give him pain medication and call me if he needed to go to a Dr. No call and he was sore but OK when I picked him up from school.

Strike 2--Friday afternoon: He asked to play at Pena's. No big deal except that he again hurt himself when he fell from the swing there and didn't tell me!

Strike 3--Saturday Afternoon: We had a busy day of birthdays and Achievement Day for Brookly so I didn't think about wrapping his arm and we all went to Weston's for Shelby and Sera's party. Brennen jumped on the trampoline, tried to do a side flip, and really hurt it this time. He heard something snap and then was in lots of pain. At this point we decided to take our monkey to Urgent Care. Of course it was closed but we went to GoodNight Pediatrics and the X-ray showed a hairline fracture on top of his wrist. Do we really have to go through all this for attention? He came home with a blue wrap and soft cast and when we called the Orthopaedic Surgeon as recommended, he won't even see Brennen until next Monday when the swelling goes down. In the meantime, Brennen is upset that he didn't get to go iceskating and that he'll miss climbing the ropes for PE. Nothing stops him! He is our endless bundle of happy energy! We sure love this monkey! He was so worried about how he would write for school and that he'd have too much homework and kids would make fun. Well, everyone thought it was cool and I got to type his homework. Not too bad of a deal I'd say!
