Catch Up

Why do I always feel I'm playing catch up? Whether it's this blog so I have something written down about our life and my funny kids so they have memories to laugh at later, or dishes, or laundry, or clutter, or cleaning, or cooking... Well, that list could just go on and on but it overwhelms me and you know what IT'S OK!! I am so blessed I will not complain about my life because I wouldn't change who we are or what we are striving to become and what it seems to take to get us there:) I blogged part of December and when Wes got home on Day 13 and I hadn't finished I felt guilty so guess what? I'm not gonna blog each day this time. Just when I get a minute. He already came home, had a wonderful Christmas and time together, left another 10 days and missed Josh's Cross country meet and a few other events and came home the 15th of Jan. and left again today on Josh's birthday for another 2 weeks or so! Man, it's hard to hold a job these days:) We feel incredibly blessed that his company gave him a good raise and an extra bit as a special bonus which they said was for the sacrifices we have to make. Wes thinks they felt bad they stopped paying for school. It won't cover school costs but helps.

Boys and their GUNS!

Josh's 14th Birthday

January 28, 2011
What is it about boys and their guns!?! When they are small they want squirt guns and cap guns and pretend gun play with their fingers and almost any object. We tried the no gun rule. We really did! They just make believe anyway and get play guns for their birthdays:) Then it advances to Nerf guns (Jarom's still in this stage and Brennen's just outgrowing it) Josh has entered a whole new world of Airsoft Guns! Dallin has advanced to real hunting and wants real guns but will have to wait a while I think. I have to say it's so different as they get older and only want guns! Josh's whole birthday came in a heavy box from evike.com. Airsoft guns and parts and BBs and all there is to know about them has consumed my sweet boy! For weeks now he's had a hard time sleeping and doing any work at home or school because he was totally consumed with which gun to get, which place to buy from, how much he had to pay towards it, how to earn money for it, and then for the last week, when it would come and when he could open it! Oh my Joshy boy! To Josh, Guns=Fun!!
We decided to just forgive the rest of the money for the guns as his gift but he did pay @$50 of his own money still. Clips, batteries, smart charger, professional BBs. WOW! Who knew there was so much involved in an automatic electric airsoft gun? Funny, Dallin has dropped out of airsoft wars with his little pistol now:) This gun is amazing! Wes shot it this morning - after Josh- and he said he felt like Rambo. Power! What happened to cute little toys and treats wrapped up for a birthday? I think that has passed for my Josh. Kinda makes me sad...but not when I saw the joy on his face this morning when he opened the box!
Wes had to go to CA today to be there for work until the launch Feb. 5th. If all goes well he'll be home sometime that next week. So, we took Josh to Texas Roadhouse last weekend. He is also having a few friends over for an airsoft war and pizza tomorrow afternoon after his Cross Country meet! That and Krispy Kreme free dozen doughnuts today! What a birthday! We love you Josh!!
